GEOCHEMISTRY

REGIONAL PROSPECTION

ProDeMin utilizes sampling protocol and sample preparation and analytical methods to obtain quality data given the nature of each target area,  the objective of the program as well as the outcrop percentage and terrain conditions. The aspects covered in these protocols include the following:

  • The length and volume or weight of the sample.

  • The sampling methodology and the collection procedure to minimize contamination avoid the loss of fine material.

  • On site supervision.

  • Procedures for preparation, homogenization and fragmentation of samples.

  • Quality control in the preparation and analysis of samples in the laboratory.

  • Comparative studies between test laboratories and precision determination.

  • The integration of the data into a project database and analysis and display using GIS (Geographic Information Systems).

ProDeMin implements strict quality control/quality assurance programs and determines the best analytical procedures for a given project based on experience of Geochemistry professionals and contracts with internationally recognized analytical laboratories.

REGIONAL EXPLORATION

Geochemical prospecting consists of the analysis of samples of rock outcrops, stream sediments and soils as well as from plants that can concentrate chemical elements related to a particular type of mineralization.

SOIL AND ROCK GRIDS

Geochemical grid surveys are carried out in order to determine anomalous zones within a defined area generally using soil or rock sampling. ProDeMin has a handheld Olympus Delta XRF analyzer for use during soil sampling to provide real time data on chemical composition. This instrument is also useful for obtaining advance data during drilling.

WATER QUALITY

Water as a natural resource requires proper management in the mining industry and is a balance between complying with standards and operating costs for both surface water and groundwater as well as recycled water,  from the start of a project through the operational stage.  Management of water quality data and integrating this data with statistical data such as the annual rainfall and groundwater level fluctuations is necessary for environmental baseline studies.
